Assistant Director of Ports and Harbors- Pease Development Authority/Division of Ports and Harbors

Pease Development Authority, which oversees the New Hampshire Division of Ports and Harbors, is seeking an Assistant Director of Ports and Harbors. The Assistant Director of Ports and Harbors is responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the Ports of NH, and the strategic development of the Division of Ports and Harbors (DPH).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of policies, programs and procedures ensuring effective Port administration and operations.
  • Ensures compliance with all rules and laws.
  • Assists in overseeing sound fiscal management of the division.
  • Assists in Port development by developing and recommending long-range plans and strategies for infrastructure improvements, capital projects, and ongoing maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists in developing and adhering to departmental budget.
  • Assists in overseeing routine Port operations and administration: Dredging, commercial and property management leases and contracts, permitting and placement of moorings and aids to navigation in state tidal waters and licensing of harbor, river, and docking pilots.
  • Under the direction of the Port Director, works with appropriate agencies and organizations on funding and regulatory matters.
  • Under the guidance of the Port Director, interprets and enforces the policies, rules and regulations of the Port harbors.
  • Actively markets and promotes the Port.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates, counsels and reviews performance for all direct reports; ensures employee safety is maintained at all times, all accidents are investigated promptly and corrective actions are put in place for all accidents and near misses.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year

Summer Internships- Portsmouth International Airport (PSM)

Portsmouth International Airport is seeking an intern for our summer program. This role works with Airport Operations staff to assist in maintaining the safety and security of the airport in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and Transportation Security Regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducting daily inspections of the airport and ensuring deficiencies are addressed; ensuring operational safety and security is met at all times
  • Completing various airport administrative tasks as assigned
  • Assisting with coordination of Airport Operations during periods of construction activity and aircraft emergencies
  • Coordinating the operation of the airport computerized access control system
  • Performing other duties as assigned

 

Interns will gain valuable experience in the following areas:

  • Emergency response coordination
  • Government,tenant, and public relations
  • Airfield/ramp inspections, maintenance and construction procedures
  • Airport land use and master planning
  • Noise abatement practices
  • An understanding of the internal workings of a GA airport

 

Interns will also have the opportunity to make many valuable contacts in the aviation industry.

Education and/or Experience:

Currently enrolled in an Aviation, Business, or related degree program. Interns must maintain a current driver’s license and be authorized to work in the United States.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must meet the requirements of TSR1542 for a criminal history and/or background check and security identification display area training (SIDA)
  • Must successfully complete all requisite training to maintain airfield driving privileges for the entire Airport Operations Area (AOA)
  • Basic understanding of FAR Parts 77 and 139, and TSR 1542
  • Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Must have ability to work shift work and be on call when required

Job Types: Part-time, Internship

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Full-Time Airport Maintenance Equipment Operator- Portsmouth International Airport (PSM)

Pease Development Authority/Portsmouth International Airport is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator in our Airport Maintenance department. This position is responsible for operating the equipment and machinery required to maintain airport operations in compliance with FAA regulations.

Essential Duties:

  • Operating a variety of heavy equipment, light vehicles, and power and hand tools.
  • Documenting work done, materials used and work orders and repairs completed.
  • Operating various types of specialized equipment to remove snow and ice from the airport pavements.

Education & Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the operation of heavy equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Licenses/Certifications:

A valid driver’s license from the current state of residence and a CDL B with air endorsement are also required.

You must have the ability to obtain required security certifications and badges, as well as work independently with little or no supervision. This position requires the ability to be on call when required.
